NOTE: Some of you might have been thinking that the black spots on this koi are a disease or something. They are actually a skin reaction called Shimi, where small black spots appear under the scales, caused by poor water quality - and this one certainly came from poor water quality. It is not contageous.

The neat thing about ghost and dark koi is that they grow really quickly, are notably friendly, and when swimming in a dark pond can sneak up on people like a stealth aircraft. Many koi hobbyists have told me that a dark koi or ghost is a must for every pond.
