Introduction This is an annual gathering of small boat enthusiasts. FREE and open for anyone to come, you don't even have to bring a boat. This is a combination event with a number of activities happening at the same time. Texas 200 Chuck Leinweber from DuckworksMagazine.com and others have been talking about a Texas version of the Everglades Challenge for years. Well, this year Chuck has initiated an organization to organize and host such an event. For more info, see [ Texas200.com ] Duckworks Messabout This is where people bring their home built boats and display them on the beach, plus take them for short rides with others. It is a great opportunity to see and try a large variety of boats. Noels Casual Cruise Noel has led a few casual cruises along the coast that land at Magnolia Beach during the messabout. He will be organizing another cruise in 2008. Not as a marathon, but as a wander amongst the wildlife. -- WARNING -- Sailing & paddling in the ocean is a DANGEROUS sport, and you may die if you go sailing. We assume no responsibility for your well being, will make NO effort to keep track of you or render assistance in any way. If you go sailing at the same time as us, you are ON YOUR OWN.
In the marsh areas, there are alligators, snakes, and all sorts of other critters that will bite & harm you.
During any of the activities, contact between boats is not allowed, no matter who has the right of way. Many of the people attending don't know what the proper rules are. You must render assistance if they need it -- and if you need it, blow your whistle! If a race or competition gets screwed up because of a rescue, we will take a vote by the competitors of that race, and run it again if needed.
Magnolia Beach Puddle Duck Race
Since we had the world championship in 2006, we can't have it again for another 2 years. So this year we are going to have a race to be named the champion of Magnolia Beach. It will be a simple format, a beach start and 3 laps around a pair of bouys which are parallel to the beach.
Human Powered Boat Competition
Bring a boat, power it by a human, and compete against others.

South Texas International Proa Championship Regatta
Since we had a massive turn out last year and a highly contested race which came down to the wire with a photo finish, this year's race should be even more so exciting.

Event Schedule - For Saturday
11am - HPB events start
1pm - Proa Race
2pm - Puddle Duck Race
3pm - Award Ceremony
6pm - Chuck's Potluck Dinner
** Chuck will have a donation bucket if you would like to contribute to help pay for the cost of the dinner.
If you can, bring something to share. Chuck usually supplies the meat and grills it, others bring salad, wierd caujan stuff, rolls, beans, desserts etc. Let Chuck know what you brought before hand so he knows what to get at the store.
Trophies
Please bring atleast one trophy for each event you plan to enter. At the end of all the events, we will have an award ceremony. All of the trophies are put in a big pile, and first place gets to pick out theirs first, then second place etc. Same system we did in 2006
Plastic Beads:Yellow - you showed up to the messabout
Blue - you won first place in one of the races
Green - you participated in a race (one bead for each race)
Gold - you rendered assistance to another sailor / crew who needed help
