Class Rules For This Event

All boats that are sailed in the official races must be setup in PDRacer class rule configuation. See the class rules page at PDRacer.com

Parent & Youth Race - If 2 or more parent and youth crew teams participate, we will have a 2 lap parent and youth race. In this class, the youth must be of 14 years or younger, and is acting as the captain of the boat, with their hand on the tiller. The parent shall be in the boat with the youth, and can help with whatever is needed (including holding onto the tiller).

Youth Race - If 2 or more youths of participate, we will have a 2 lap youth race. In this class, the crews of the boats must be 14 yrs or younger, and have a legal guardian present at the event.

World Championship Race - There are no restrictions on who may compete in the championship race.

** If you race in the Youth, or Parent & Youth Race, you are welcome to compete in the World Championship Race also
** If you don't have a PDRacer, or are flying in and can't bring yours, you can compete to use one of the loaner boats. For more info on the loaner boats [click here]

Flat Earth Sail Race - There will be a special match race between Andrew Linn and Shorty using a specific triangle sail, up to 11' on each side, rigged to 2 spars like a lateen. Andrew will be using a flat sail that has no shaping, and Shorty will be using a shaped sail. This is a special match race between us using the 2 loaner boats. If you would like to participate, you will need to bring your own boat, or race the winner afterwards. Not sure when we are going to run the race, depends on how busy the rest of the day is.

Right Of Way
We will be using the US Sailing simplified right of way rules. If you wish to file a protest, a committee of all officials and sailors from the race (who are willing to participate, except those involved in the protest) to hear the protest arguments. The protest shall be held immediately after the race in a quick manner, after arguments are heard, the protest committee shall vote and that will be the final decision.

Please keep in mind, in the entire history of the PDRacer to date, there has only been one protest filed, and it was filed as a joke that we all had a good laugh at. Puddle Duckers are focused on having fun, and being safe.
